Tucson, Arizona – Pima Community College Chorale & College Singers, under the direction of Benjamin Sorenson, presents its opening concert of the 2010-2011 Twentieth Anniversary Season. The concert features the Chorale singing a selection of English, Irish and American folk songs including the beloved “Danny Boy” arranged by Linda Steen Spevacek, Stephen C. Foster’s perennial favorite “Beautiful Dreamer,” and the enduring Scottish tune “The Water Is Wide (Waly, Waly)” arranged by Ruth Elaine Schram. The College Singers perform popular opera choruses in the second half of the concert featuring selections from Guiseppi Verdi’s “La Traviata,” Mozart’s “Placido E Il Mar,” and Jacques Offenbach’s “The Tales of Hoffmann” and “La jolie Parfumeuse.”

Sorenson has been directing the Chorale & College Singers since 1978. He has performed with the Arizona Opera Company and has prepared choruses professionally for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Arizona Opera Company.
